Au Revoir l'Angleterre!

As the academic year comes to a close, many Erasmus students will be waving goodbye to the places they've called 'home' for the past year. The Erasmus programme is an educational scheme for students within the EU, wishing to do a year abroad. Over 2 million students have benefited from the grants and bursaries on offer through Erasmus. This ranges from as much as 3425 who travelled to France last year, and as little as 1 student going to Leichtenstein. 31 countries in the EU participate in the scheme, which is known to carry a number of advantages, let alone discovering a new culture and improving your language skills. To get more insight, we spoke to Laurie Vanhuysse, a 19 year old French student from Lille, who has spent the past 8 months in the UK at Canterbury Christ Church University studying English.

Laurie returns to her university in France, L'Université Catholique de Lille for her 3rd and final year of English studies - Laurie also told us that she would love to come back and live in Canterbury, thanks to the opportunity Erasmus has given her to embrace the English culture. Below is a map to show the distance Laurie has travelled.
